Thread regarding IBM layoffs

You're eligible! Join the SapceMakers competition

The latest IBM's bright idea... Some competition to improve work office designs!! How is that going to help the top and the bottom lines?!? I can't believe we actually pay people to come up with stupid ideas like that. This company is really desperate and on its death bed!

From IBM:

"Creative office designs can help teams work in new ways. How would you redesign your space?

What changes to your office space would help you most? How could a $5000 US grant change the way you work?

Get four colleagues to join you and submit your ideas today. IBMers will begin investing shortly. At least 10 ideas will be selected to win grants and have their spaces installed!

And remember, this is not about process simplification or building new apps. SpaceMakers ideas are all about your team’s physical IBM office environment!"

The open seating is disgusting. Sorry, but I don't like looking up only to see some freaks head 2 ft from mine. Germs galore too. I have never been this sick at any other place I have worked.

Best office design, WFH. Or at least give us full sized cubicles. I just cannot stand someone staring at me all day, it impedes on my work-concentration.

The centers were supposed to bring collaboration, yet when you walk over to someone's cubicle for any help they usually tell you to use Sametime. (which makes sense)

So there you have it, the centers are pretty useless and a waste of money.

Office politics! IBM management has nothing to interest in, but only Office politics! That's why revenue down, lay offs, no salary raise, while IBM management got better and better paid!

How about a contest to think of ways to improve revenues and drive the stock price up. What a complete joke and waste of time. I bet none get implemented.

Unbelievable. It's like holding a competition to rearrange the deckchairs on the Titanic. The stupidity of this is mind-boggling.

Completely LAME--redesigned the offices is like putting lipstick on the pig--its will still be toxic IBM, treating employees badly and laying off good, long-time loyal employee BEFORE they can claim their retirement.

If you're an IBM employee, spend your time polishing your resume to get out, not redesigning the office :)

Got the same e-mail today... even though I work from home!! That tells me that IBM does not even know where its people work out of, LOL!! Based on that, I would recommend people working out of office to may be start working from home?!?! IBM won't know anything.

What a f---ing company, sorry for the bad language!
