I worked in the IT department for several years and my contract ended this year in June...Knew something was up when the calls dropped and that our calls were going to the Phillipines and Mexico. They were also cross training others.It was horrible and I am still looking for work and unsuccessful and unemployment ran out.....Lost everything due to me losing my job
The 70 rule refers to the process of adding the employee's age to the number of years with the company. A value greater than 70 indicates that the employee is ripe for harvesting i.e. being thrown out of the company because management could not steal as much money in the way of bonus. Management, especially upper management, is only interested in plumbing the rectal depths of employees with their pe--sbefore getting rid of the now slightly damp employee.

Our plant brings in hired grads from college.. lead guys have to train them how to do there job.. 18 months there gone... why not promote within and give employees something to look forward to.. not just get passed up by a 25 year old because they got a piece of paper..
It is, and keep that in mind if they do that. they have been sued successfully before for age discrimination
The 70 Rule appears to me that it's a form of age discrimination. Otherwise, why does Frito-Lay continue to hire college grads each summer when they don't even have open roles for them? They knew this summer that massive layoffs were coming but they continued to bring in Interns, make offers to them for when they graduate. To add insult to injury, Frito-Lay was recruiting last week for their next wave of interns. Out with the old and in with the new.
I believe this is referring to rumored Thanksgiving layoffs.
