New RA Package?

I'm hearing rumors that IBM has now reduced the RA package to just two weeks notice and 30 days severance for everyone, not just those on a PIP. Has anyone else heard this?

Mini RA's before 11/15 to avoid the measly 2% 401k match?

Oh man, you have to love IBM. What about those strategic imperatives Ginni? All BS huh?

Rumor I hear from multiple sources is 30 days notice, 30 days severance. Execs perceive 90 day notice allows those selected to slack off for 60 of those days. Many mini-RAs before 11/15, to avoid the December 401K match. Almost every organization has to pick one or 2 people to spread the pain. Rankings will occur but that is for 1Q RA target.

The tools they use to identify "low performance" are irrelevant, and no matter how often they change the result is still the same. "Low performance" is also irrelevant because your performance doesn't matter. Every one knows RA's are just massive cost cutting and no one listens when IBM tries to call them something else.

In Q4, our BU (all teams) will go through Global Development Performance Management (DPM), which will mark the guys in your team who are low performance. If marked, he might need PIP.

Carrying out DPM in this sensitive moment, does it mean is there big change in IBM at the end of this year or the beginning next year?

The folks that got let go via RA in the last two weeks reported that's what they got - out the door in two weeks, with a one month severance check. It seems that IBM is keeping the RA's very small now, to avoid the uproar that occurs on these sites when it happens. It's working. I'm sure there will be more mini-RAs with two weeks notice so that they can get as many people out the door before the December 15 401k matching date as possible.

I do not know why everyone gets "right to work" confused with "employment at will". "Right to work" simply means you do not have to join a union. "Employment at will" means either the employer or employee can terminate employment any time with or without cause (subject to protected classes of course).

30 days severance is the norm at IBM now.

It would not surprise me if they kill the severance package all together pretty soon.

If you are working in a "right to work state" companies are not obligated to give any notice, nor is the employee for that matter when they finally brain up and decide to separate from IBM.

Still a proud IBMer? I thought so
