Why on Earth would you leave and go to a company you knew was in for a merger, in turn makes for a very unstable, back stabbing environment. You need to redefine what your DREAM JOB is.

Here is a better one; You have a great job with another company and a recruiter emails you. You ignore the first two emails because you are not looking. Finally you open the third. The job description matches your skills exactly. The pay offered is great. It is a dream job. In the interview your boss to be tells you about the exciting merger. You question him about layoffs and he reassures you that the job is safe. So you quit your secure job in October of last year and join Change. In March the merger happened and about 125 get laid off. You again question your boss who again assures you all is ok. Then May 4th you get the notification you position was eliminated. Being it is a notch market you are now unemployed. You are shocked, disappointed, angry. It has been 5 months and are still hunting. You were again promised if you find a job posted at Change to let your boss know and he will talk to that manager. I found 9 positions in the past 5 months, I notified my exboss of the jobs. I did not even get an email back from him. Never have gotten any calls from Change recruiting.

Lesson learned, if a merger be cautious signing on. If the company is going IPO soon, the administration eyes glaze over and think the best thing to do is cut staff. Maybe it is not the best. Maybe have a product that is the best. You need people to run the company. Change is being driven into the ground because of the almighty dollar.

I realize they have to stay solvent, but if they had a product that is the best, worrying about not making a profit would not be an issue. Also, to promise (yes I know nothing it guaranteed) and then toss you aside as if you never worked at Change is wrong. If i was the one that had to tell my staff they are laid off, I would do my best to help place them.

It really s---s that if I was not approached by that recruiter I would still be a happy employee at my former company but that job is filled. So I'm on the street through no fault of my own. No help from Change. Oh I did get one good thing. They gave me 12 weeks severance. But that is gone. So beware of the comforting smiles. They should have known that my position would not be needed before hiring me. If not then there is a severe lack of planning.

Everyone needs a job, but it is especially hard on a family when its the only source of income.

Here's the thing when the new CEO came to our office and stood there and said he was

excited for the new brand and new healthcare products and etc,its great new start, and we will stand among the best ,blah blah same person months down the road layed off people he stood in front of and lied, getting people's hope's up thinking all is okay

Hmmmmm......Should they just layoff employees WITHOUT families?? I do not understand - sounds like you are just salty.

It is a business. If the business goes under then ALL employees are out of jobs. Do you think they should keep all employee even if they cannot afford to pay them all or have sunset products they work on, etc.? Like it or not, that is capitalism and the American Way.
