Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

Cisco Aquires broadsoft

http://www.nojitter.com/post/240173026/broadsoft-fits-cisco-like-puzzle-piece

Well that’s another nail in Avaya’s coffin. Cisco will now be seen as more agile and cloud ready than ever before, whilst Avaya tries to figure out how to make two VMs talk to each other.

Vantage basic was also touted as Broadsoft compatible IIRC. Wonder if that support will get retracted?

When will you understand Avaya. It's about cloud and not legacy products. It's about future and Avaya stands no where.

BroadSoft's cloud business applications and platforms are available through more than 450 service providers in 80 countries. The vendor currently has over 19 million business subscribers.

There is no question of using Avaya's session manager...... Cisco and BroadSoft will provide a comprehensive SaaS portfolio of cloud-based unified communications, collaboration, and contact center software solutions and services for customers of all sizes.

Both Cisco and Broadsoft's share rose after this deal.

Wait and watch.

Another terrible acquisition by Cisco, and another discolored, ugly square in their quilt. They couldn't integrate with Broadsoft (or anyone) before, and they won't be able to now. True interoperability happens through SIP, and Avaya has been doing that for years with Session Manager and multivendor environments including Cisco and Broadsoft. This doesn't do anything to give Cisco a leg up, in fact, Cisco and Broadsoft customers will now need to buy an Avaya Session Manager get the two systems to talk to each other. So, thank you Cisco for the increased revenue!

PS - Can the Cisco Marketing interns spreading FUD and ridiculously biased messaging on this forum PLEASE get back to work. You are an embarrassment to your company. And please use the possessive form "their" to avoid instant discrediting of a post.

Apparently the Cisco people coming here to "share" what their internal message (read as dream) is. This acquirement means one thing and one thing only - Cisco has been delusional about it's UC and CC offers and finally had to face up and admit (thru a mere 1.7 B) that it was way behind the curb and the only way to bridge that gap was to buy a ready made solution set. please keep the honesty and this will help us - the avayans - sell more.

This merger would kill Avaya's mid market products. It would be hard for Avaya to sell Zang and IP Office products. Tough competition ahead.

Let's see what Avaya buy's next?

BroadSoft has more cloud-based services than any other unified communication or call center company. Cloud is in there blood. And Cisco is targeting to compete Microsoft. They do not consider Avaya as competition.

The thing is, equinox isn’t a very good collaboration application, why would you use it over Lync, slack or hangouts, and oceana requires far too much development by the end customer get anything meaningful. And that’s after the customer discovers what how huge the foot print is.

Broadsoft acquisition will help Cisco's cloud story a bit but not by much. Integration will be critical as Cisco current cloud offerings are a mess of disparate technologies. No native cloud application besides Spark and ithasn't gained much traction because it has no differentiation. AV just needs to focus on its own cloud solutions with contact center, Zang, Oceana, etc. It's all about applications. When you have a good application doesn't matter if it's in the cloud or on-prem customers will come.

The War of the Corporates

Great move and perfect timing by Cisco.

Avaya was aiming to become stronger after emerging out of bankruptcy but well played by Cisco to win the market share and emerging business.

What a game!!!!

Avayan's, rethink about your strategy. Better sell yourself and rest in peace!!!!

This is a very well planned and hard kick to Avaya by Cisco. While Avaya is still planning to build cloud offerings for UC and CC, Cisco aquired a well established company in the same field.

But don't worry Avaya!!! You can still sell your IP Phones and end points which will work with Broadsoft cloud.
