Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

There is hope on the horizon

Target has two groups of people one is hardworking & highly technical and another is a highly political managers & directors. The political group survive because of their highly advanced manipulative techniques. They are experts in managing hardworking technical folks out.

Large companies like Enron collapsed due to the bad politics. I think the new Target leadership has been on a cleanup mission by getting rid of political managers replacing with experienced technical managers from the outside but I sure it is not easy.

This isn't true except perhaps in small pockets. From tts, I can attest to the fact that all technical or business wise smart managers are being systematically managed out, and the usual politics is replacing progress. This is true especially in digital and product. I hear from colleagues about the same in other areas of tts. The recent promotion list had not got a single proven execution driven technical manager. With due respect, the digital engineering and product leadership are not technical either but home grown passive aggressives in the art of deceit and managing out.

What kind of "technical" are we talking about?

Technical as in the execution side of store operations, or technical as in IT, Web / Mobile, etc.

And if it's the latter, do you mean TTS or the UI / Design side of things?

Target has always "managed out" instead of fire. They are notorious at it. In normal times, they would have already been fined into oblivion by the EEOC and the MDHR chiefly for age discrimination but we don't live in normal times anymore.

So in general let just agree that Target is in a much better place today both as an employee edna shareholder.

Cheers!

There is great hope on the horizon of course.

1: There is no internal struggle in the organization for the "manipulative political" to remove the "hardworking & highly technical." - The push is to find and reward people who can find what needs to be done to succeed and execute. This includes people who have the expertise to execute as well as people who have the ability to lead, motivate and not alienate others who can execute.

2: Enron didn't collapse because of bad politics. Enron collapsed because of deceit, fraud and greed across all levels.
