Thread regarding Follett layoffs

To the Newbies

You will eventually find out how Follett really treats its associates. Make fun of the oldies if you want but upper mgmt will show their true colors at some point.

I knew it was a cr@phole when a parent died and I was berated for taking TWO days off for a funeral. Yes so caring and supportive. Toxic. Everything seems fine for first few months, but when you need family time, good luck.

The newbies in my area are awful

One has not worked and 8 hour/full week since they started 2 months ago and when they are in they surf the internet.

The other disappears for hours and no one has a clue as to where they are.

It is unbelievable.

I would not advise just quitting. However, if you are not happy in your current role, it certainly makes sense to begin the process to seek employment elsewhere. The bottom line is that there are indeed employers that value their employees AND employees that find their jobs rewarding. Go find that joy!!

For those of you who don't want to read negative comments about this company, then you should not come to this site and read the comments. This company is terrible and dumps on everyone. There will be more layoffs just look at the results of this leadership team.

I love the idiots that say "just quit". Unfortunately everyone has responsibilities and I respect that someone doesn't quit without another job. They classify themselves as great employees, and then continually check the layoffs website for the scoop on what is happening.

For positive comments, go read the quad or the innovation submission website. Great ideas and zero progress after TWO years.

Wow, that is really sh--ty, the loss of a parent is one of the most difficult life events to deal with. What kind of compassion does this company have. They are heartless and soul less.

Follett uses up valuable employees, treats them like dirt, and then lays them off. I am an ASM who saw budget reductions in my store this month, and more are on the way in November. This company is a dinosaur and is rapidly imploding.

self delusional exceptionalism is pure hubris. If you hope there was a flaw in those who were abused out or laid off, you're misreading the situation. Valuable employees with years of experience were abused until they quit, or could be fired for cause. Their experience was replaced with temporary employees, part time employees. The experienced employee was given NO severance.

At follett, you're not valued, you're not exceptional, you're next.

Why are people blaming the victims and not the perpetrators of the company? Employees did not bring abuse down on themselves. MLS and DG and GT abused people. No one asked for it.

Newbies will be shocked in a few months. You think you're working for a class act but nothing is farther from the truth.

Keep laughing. Yes, I moved on - who would stay after being treated like property? And please do google Winston Smith. True book lovers know who he is are are laughing at you.

Follett will prove to be your worst nightmare at some point. Yes, my parent did die and I was made to feel bad by my boss for requesting time off for the wake and service. Truth. I worked in HO in the lovely tower of doom.

Then quit if you’re so miserable and mistreated? Or are you a masochist? Also, how do you know anyone is a newbie? This is an anonymous site lol. That means no one knows who you are ;) I could be you posting back and forth with yourself and no one would know. Grow up and move on.
