Why was Ravi fired????
Outsourced to HCL, same India company that did the layoffs for The University of California, San Francisco in February.
Expect future US reductions since company isn't investing in america.
So sad to see such a inglorious and crushing end to what was once a hub of hard working dedicated workers. My sympathy to all my friends still at STX in OKC. I will always look back on my time with you with fondness. And fear not, there is life after Seagate. Getting riffed is scary and it may be hard but things will work out and probably for the best. You folks are world class IT people. Fully prepped for life elsewhere. Seagate's loss is your gain.
As it is now, every major functional engineer group is forced to have their own internal IT department and staff for application development. This is ridiculous and I guess it'll get even worse.
Yeah. The new model is every employee has to fix their own computer or wait weeks for someone to be available to look at it. Brilliant...just brilliant.
CISO escorted out??? Why?
The complete incompetence of the new CIO and the fact that he bounces from location to location with the only function of a hatchet man, clearly defines what type of human he is. Yes, he has made a ton of money doing it and he'll continue as long as there are organization contnue to put priorities of market analysts over products and people.
He will fail. SanDisk was unsustainable once he was done and their best option was to sell, ironically to the competition. This is the same thing that will happen here. Processes missed, systems failing, hemoraging turnover, vacating scientists and then the collapse of the once mighty drive manufacturer.
Making a decision solely based on politics vs. facts will come full circle. The only satisfation that can be gained by the families they (he) destroyed is the reality that all of silicone valley will watch the giant fail.
IT about ready to be totally gutted and expect very little left in "high cost" regions, expect moves to India (like CIO did with SANDesk) and Malaysia. Almost all that will be left in US will be contract only.
CISO escorted out of the building yesterday in OKC, yet CIO sent email declaring that he "decided to leave".
Mass exodus in IT soon both voluntary and more RIF's.
Fact. Sad day for OKC DC.
