Promotional FAIL

We're in week two of a new initiative to bring members back into the store within 7 days. It involves giving members Promotional Cards that are to be used during a five day period the week after they shop with us.

These Promotional Cards are linked to a member account and unlocked using the coupon Barcode printed on a receipt, physical promotional card or digital receipt. They are a targeted offer to members whom marketing folks at Shop Your Way feel will come back and spend more. At Sears, the offer is typically for $6 or $8, while at Kmart the offer is for $6 or $10, good on anything in the store except Lands End, Levis, great price and Deal Flash.

The current week's validity redemption dates for the Promotional Card are 10/10 through 10/15.

In my Kmart store today, we lost more than 100 members' purchases during my shift because the "system was down" according to Shop Your Way. I personally called them on behalf of several members. Their response to the situation was pretty much "Too bad, not our problem, tell the customer to try ito on another day."

Our store manager's hands are tied because the regional and district managers don't want any exceptions, "pushed through coupons" or "make goods" for members.

I can only imagine how many members are annoyed at the malfeasance of our company in constantly luring people into the store to buy and being told we won't honor our own offer. Today alone, I know there are probably thousands of aborted transactions with angry members no longer willing to trust shopping with us.

You won't find member complaints about this week's botched promotional event on facebook because the company isn't interested in transparency -- comments are disabled or deleted or hidden.

What does our store manager think of all this? He suspects it is deliberate. Some bean counter figured out how much promotional spending we will go through and decided to pull the plug, hoping a little bait and switch will result in an increase in sales.

Sad, pathetic and ridiculous.

If you can't use this for Land's End or sales then why bother? Fluff and gimmicks no traffic is the end result.

Oh eddie is just like a used car sale man with their snake oil tactics. Why even do this when he planned it to fail from the beginning? Maybe he will blame it on the outdated computer systems in kmart and sears stores. No he blame it on the associates. I remember the green bar sheets printing out in 2008 with 1970s technology. It was very funny at the time.

The Promotional Cards are not working on my shift today. They worked intermittently in the morning. We have four carts full of go-backs as a result... items members decide not to buy because the promo card doesn't work.

I have 1 of the latest gift cards from Kmart. Did not work yesterday on the 10th and does not work today on the 11th. Manager in the store doesn't care it won't work.

Sadly, we don't even bring up these promotions unless asked...due to continued operating systems fail .....same thing when they send a bar code coupon to use as a "closing" tool....the incompetence is astounding...... but it is all "sales fault"......smh

Ok we all know this is a plot to get. People into the stores to buy the clearance cloths we have bulging at the seams in the stores. Now think about the amount of cash spent on all these dam yellow signs for the fast cash promo, had to have cost tons of cash to fill every store. Then tell us cashiers you better not ask anyone to use these points. Now these promotion cards for extra points we can't to work. This will cause even more people to leave unhappy to give bad feeback that we will get yelled at for ... one must think "Oh why can't we keep help in the stores " DUH because upper management have their heads up their a$$es thats why.

Same at my store, I tried using one of those stupid coupons and the register said service unavailable. Super annoying. We were sooooooo slow today I was the only one to try the damn coupon and I was just as annoyed as the many other customers I'm sure came across this issue across the country.
