Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

General Electric can't hide its mistreatment of employees anymore

GE greatly underestimates the power of people. People can communicate via social media and networks better than ever before. Historically, GE would fire massive numbers of people and their voices were silenced. Now employees are connected to customers and competitors with vast complex social networks. GE still thinks they can kick people to the curb and there will be no long term negative impact. Think again!!! People that continuously are kicked by large conglomerates lose all loyalty and respect. These people use powerful social networks to advance GE's competition and expose the unethical business practices once hidden by GE. It may be too late for GE to recover from their own self induced demise.

Well said, @PyZlnJu-2jwx.

Correct. GE IS many people and many of those people who are board members are the ones who are screwing over the retiree's. If you pledge benefits to retirees don't take them away after they've retired. THIS WILL be the downfall of GE unless GE reverses it's take ways from retirees. Too much bad publicity.

For sure 32+ yrs. there. Last 5 I was so bullied by my manger and his minions. That I ended up with severe anxiety and out of work on and off. Finally retired at 60. Did the whole chain of command thing. Nothing done. GE policing GE. I lost all respect for a place that I loved working at.

So true:

Keep up posts with details of any layoffs as it keeps us sane that it is just not one person or group that is feeling the pain.

I understand employees feelings about layoffs. I also realize the culture of GE as regards to employees seen as dollar signs on budget. This is pretty typical of many companies culture. But one thing to consider is GE is not a person its many people. So calling out GE as a whole does not accomplish much. As for layoffs it is stressing me out that i don't have any power to prevent or even alter upper managements plans. The best we can do is not let stress get to us that are getting the short end of the stick. Keep up posts with details of any layoffs as it keeps us sane that it is just not one person or group that is feeling the pain.
