We've been hearing a lot of rumors on the floor, Contractors going to loose their jobs in Nov, salary cuts in Dec, Temporary layoffs for hourly in Dec and first quarter of 2018.....
HR was closed yesterday and last week for some kind of "Training"

Yes. We have already been told little to absolutely no work 1st quarter ,so yes temporary layoffs will happen
Probably self defense training!
Why does GE think Baden is the center of the universe...they are on vacation half of the time...they complain about being over worked...they are guaranteed a raise. You can't lay them off...
On a side note...how about we promote more women to solve the problem and make it a gig for that other vice president moron
Greenville has less than 30 units scheduled for next year. The lowest volume I remember in a very long time. How many units does Greenville, Belfort, and Saudi Arabia have to build to meet overhead at all three plants? How can our leaders be so dumb?
As of late GE power is always sized (baseline budgeted ) for ~ 100 -120 GT's per year total. If the number falls below this threshold ...major cuts ALWAYS occur.
HR is probably reviewing their talking points for layoff discussions. My prediction is some of the HR employees will get to hear the same talking points this time as their position is eliminated.
Of course Greenville will be having huge layoffs. Just look at the extremely low gas turbine volume for next year. Repair work numbers are lower than projected. You do not have to be a rocket scientist to figure out the end result. Heads will be cut very soon.
If rumors and buts were candies and nuts it would be Christmas every day.
