Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

I will be leaving Juniper soon!!!

To fix things we need to start INNOVATING!!! People are paying politics and looking at ways to advance their careers instead of focusing on product innovation and serving the customer. Juniper's management need to encourage ideas from younger generation, they need to guide them to the future. At some point we need to stop fighting with Cisco and other competitors as it's not worth it at all. We need to INNOVATE, that will fix the competition problem.

When you look at our development methodology and processes - they are ancient and slow.

Everyone is moving towards smart IDEs and we still continue to use the old stuff...

Younger folks want to change things but are politically obstructed, stonewalled - it's hard to do anything here, a chance is not provided to improve things.

I've spent 4 years here and I am at the point where I feel I cannot contribute, cannot change anything - I am almost out the door...

Finally, what's up with all programs that are being cancelled - there are too many of them - why?

Who's responsible for all the waste???

Every good person I talk to is looking out of the door, this is absolutely not a good sign for any company company. Couple this with the substandard total compensation that we receive here at Juniper, frequent layoffs or threats of layoffs, a very bleak picture presents itself... As I said before, I am almost out the door...

@9XxV77, hold off for a few more weeks until the layoffs to see if you can score a package.

The biggest waste of money at Juniper is in Marketing. We continuously do (A.D.D. like) aimless promotions and meaningless campaigns - reacting to the successes of the competition. JDI (PLM, and Engineering), is often over-reactive to noisy customers, deviating from our own goals - squeaky wheel gets the oil. Big customers mislead us way too often.

When Arista kicks butt in the Cloud Data Centers, Juniper starts chasing the Cloud. When an important service provider wants us to work on some technology such as NFV, we chase that. In some cases, these customers disappear after we spend resources developing products for them, with noe NRE investment from them. This happens for hardware and software. If there is industry hype about SD-WAN, we start chasing that. Similar short lived, (reactive) focus on Security, Automation, DC fabrics, telco clouds etc. etc. etc., is all too common. Today's buzz word is "multi-cloud". How long will that last? Just goes to show we have no direction, and we are following the competition, with no real leadership from within. To be honest, we have no clue where we should focus our attention - in development, marketing or sales. We have lost too many of these types of gambles in the recent past.

Layoffs in the coming weeks won't fix any of these problems, unless those responsible are forced out. We are way too Fücked Ûp.
