Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

The IT Crowd

HR is a joke, you report bullying they go against you. You have witnesses but they are too scared to come forward in case of retribution. As soon as you report it you suddenly find your self getting put on PIPS.

The fact is IT buys things for so called research and guess what the lucky IT team leaders get to go home with their free toys!!

I have seen the team leader openly berate people in front of the team.

One last thing on money wastage....have you seen the meeting room they built on the strand floor. See where all Pearson money going for some one with a big ego and a small d--k. If you go in you look like you in a command center. Was this room needed or did management need another toy?

Boston IT (including the 7th floor IT "club") definitely traded IT goodies for popularity and gave friends preference even though their friends never needed a dual monitor setup, or an iPad or a desktop printer. Complete waste of resources over the years.

Meanwhile most of IT (including the group leader) couldn't solve the most basic of IT issues. Standard response was to pull the computer, reimage and return. Problems continue? Shrug.

Strand floor well its a UK main site, well he must mean the main manager initials TZ and team leader SK. They have a bad rep for being aggressive and completely nuts. A story got around how SK came in one day found her chair adjusted differently. Instead of just correcting it she shouted and swore till the point that other people in the other departments could hear. Well that is how professional the IT team leaders are. This story was repeated by many IT staff. Its a shame many of the IT are good people but are let down by the team leaders and manager.

Glad to see this is not just a problem in the sales division. Pearson's culture truly is toxic.

HR is not the friend of the employee.

They are there to protect the company from legal issues. If a "golden" manager is a problem, they are more likely to push the employee (with a complaint) out the door or just make there life miserable till they leave on their own.

I would not trust HR in such a toxic bullying environment such as Pearson.

Nothing will change this toxic bullying environment, a fish rots from the head down.
