One of my clients thinks they are an Indian company because all the work is done in India, the local people are all Indian and whenever they need extra people for a project they import them from India.
"They've been firing a lot of the people in China as well."
The entire China based Solaris R&D team was fired in the January RIF.
Romania is their new go to destination, with some contingents in the India and the US for timezone coverage. Safra loves Romania, so you know what that means! They've been firing a lot of the people in China as well.
Oracle was getting so much grief from customers over poor support, they decided to try and move back tot he States. Sadly, they thought just hiring in the U.S. again would solve their issues. But these days they still only hire the most unskilled and unmotivated support people in the U.S., just like they do in India. So the support quality is still garbage. Oracle managers, if you are reading: it wasn't the Indian accents or time zone issues that were the problem. It was that you hire totally unskilled people with little or no experience, refuse to train them, and never give raises to retain the few who do get good somehow. Customers don't care if they are supported from America or Bangalore, they just want to talk to someone who has a basic understanding of the product. Why don't you clowns try THAT?
Another hoax news.. no jobs moved to US. New reqs are opened for Romania Bucharest support teams.
The only job I've ever seen Oracle bring back to the U.S. is a small subset of Support headcount.

No way. They may be laying off people, but they aren't jobs to the US.
No way they are moving it back to the US. They must have found a cheaper country for labor than India, like Romania.
Which product areas? What's the timeframe ?
