When I was in grad school The then Vice Chairman of Target gave a speech about "Bricks and Clicks." He explained how Amazon was this small little tech company was going to take Target's Catalog business online to create an "Online Catalog" of certain Target product. In essence he thought people would look online for items and then come in to the store to buy them. Target Handed Amazon their business model for retail (outside of books) they collected a fee on each transaction online. No joke, I have the handouts somewhere for the presentation.
Thanks so much for posting this, @P1McKP0-ptk, first time hearing about it, but I am not surprised. It show exactly how little foresight then leadership had. Which is probably why we are where are right now.
