ELT - Please Explain Insider Trading

I selected a few US Oil Stocks and compared insider trading (buy/sell) over last 12mo. Data from here - http://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/cop/insider-trades

COP ranked dead last in the net number of shares bought by "insiders" (directors and officers). They might know something we do not and do not seem to have a lot of confidence in the future of COP.

I don’t like the ELT, collectively they applied constructive dismissal to me (legal in Texas) because one of them had phone s-x with an account manager (illegal). However, executives buying their own stock is an indicator of undervalued stock.

Anyone with even a tiny bit of financial sense will know that you are supposed to diversify your portfolio. The ELT are already given a ton of COP shares, so why would you buy more? I wouldn't - I would choose another industry.

It makes you wonder if the ELT from those other companies understand common investment strategy? Not looking good for how those companies are run!

Why would they buy when they get tens of thousands of shares through their compensation packages?
