Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Seems our new CEO has big plans

Calling Weatherford disjointed is an understatement. And I just love the part about "squeezing more costs out of operations." Nice way to say more layoffs incoming.

I tell whats wrong.... To many lard a-- managers who know there sh-- but can not be f---ed to put on a overall and go down the yard and help. Instead thet fire off emails about sh-- that needs no email.

There is total breakdown in the command chain. Lazy managers that have become keyboard jockeys.

Face it, if you are still at this company you are riding it to the end. You may be in denial, but the ride is going to end it is just a matter of if it is on your terms or not. Change s---s. But would you rather get out while you have a job or be forced out latter down the road. There are folks that are worth a damn, just hope they realize it in time.

Bunch of whiny wimps here.

Leave Weatherford if you don't like it. Entire oil and gas industry is in shambles and while admittedly Weatherford decline started before that it is making it harder for Weatherford to rebound.

Weatherford is failing and we all know this. I still do my job everyday cause i am limited on choices to where I can go due to small town. Management is a joke and anyone with eyes can see this. Weatherford is a joke in the field and that is sad that this is not being looked at. When I hear we are even a joke to a company like Nabors, that is a issue to me.

For the first time sense the ship started sinking, I heard our district manager say he has pretty much as no faith in the company after that conference call. We all get on here and rant/rave but not a soul us stepping up to make changes because why, we can't. We do open our mouth and we seem to be targeted after that. I would love to say a name on here but best I dont. We have one so called manger that has been moved from job to job and does nothing but s--- funds from the company. I am sure we all know that one person on many parts of the company. I have been lucky and held in the game this long. I will stay as long as they let me. Jobs are hard to find. Praying for us all. Good luck everyone.

Company now is structured like an upside down triangle and if Weatherford is to succeed in this market this needs to be addressed immediately. Let's reduce the VP / Director Management and be competitive again!

I was previously at Weatherford and I agree that there is a lot wrong with how things are managed. The biggest is the managers themselves. As stated by others, you have managers with no one to manage. You also have managers the micro-manage everything, it is one thing to be informed about what is going on and another to cripple things by insisting eveything runs through you. There are quality folks working in operations they just need to be allowed to do their jobs and be held accountable - if they screw up, hold them accountable. Biggest issue they have is passing the buck down at WFT, and that starts with the VPs, Directors and Managers.

When I first started at WFT I quickly realized the management here was missing real professionalism compared to other industries I had worked in, then I also quickly realized WFT had a lot of retarded employees and to manage them you needed retarded managers so I say leave the managers in place unless you want The lunatics to take over the asylum.

I agree with Oxtt3lW-3ynz. And there are the managers AND supervisors that have no one reportito them. What's up with that?

I believe the company would benefit with reducing the amount of Management levels from field personnel to CEO. This company has an abundance of VP's answering to VP's, Directors - this should be the next cut to drop the costs so that we can become competitive again against our competition in the market place..

Believe that is the state this company is in, a bunch of folks riding until it is done. Some out of fear of change, some owing to the fact they are paycheck-to-paycheck, and others because they are either scared to speak up and tell management they have it wrong or just don't know better themselves. Of course there is that last bunch that are moving along and will stab anyone in the back to keep themselves from going down - a lot of that in the mid management range (not C suite). Believe CEO is a good leader, just have some VPs in there that are not what they need to be.

Well at least the layoffs should be at SJP at this point as it would seem they have hit bone with regard to trimming from operations in the field. Keep in mind that a lot of the groups are profitable up until they add the overhead/burden/allocations from the top heavy management. If you look at the SEC filings there is not a lot of R&D going on now so it is headcount and nepotism with a lot of the real estate they are still sitting on. IF, IF this company makes it they will still be in trouble as they have already cashed in their future for the sake of staying afloat now. caption
