Don't believe anything management tells you. If any of the things management said were true we would be outperforming WD and Samsung combined. Our portfolio of media storage would be knocking our competitors into submission. We would be hiring 100's of new highly skilled workers instead of laying them off and the tools in our fab plants would not be two generations behind and constantly grinding to a halt. Evan HAMR is starting to resemble the lost city of Atlantis. We are told it's out there somewhere but nobody quite knows where it is or when we'll see it.

Seagate springtown management have hinted to staff off huge orders when asked why so many read/write head wafers are held in whats known as buffer area, shelves upon shelves of wafers.Lots of started wafers. In my 17 years at the company ive never seen so much work at buffer area. What does it all mean?

Does seagate give the package to the people who get laid off recently?

agreed with @OwIjvnn-1zpn, everyone just want the package

not about any loyalty, this company is going downhill and boot ppl out when they used enough

Voluntary would be faster than the last few where the RIF is announced or leaked months before it actually happened! Remove the waiting games, remove so much pretend productivity. Long timers "everyone worth keeping" would sign up in a flash, so many just waiting for the package not willing to walk away with nothing.

They do not have time to ask for volunteers. They need to cut costs asap.

They should ask for volunteers, it will save their time and ours.

Big layoffs in IT again last week. The department where I work was reduced 40%, 7 to 4 people. If they asked for volunteers today, half of everyone left would leave. Everyone is getting their resumes in order. They better start offering decent bonuses or everyone worth keeping will run for greener pastures sooner than later.

"This is a bad time to be a troubled tech stock."

Too bad they don't seem to want to bring back the voluntary retirement option....or just give people a chance to volunteer for the next RIF. There might end up being a waiting list.
