Truven Health, a part of Watson Health just laid off 2/3's of it's contract workforce. Contract recruiters were told to hold off until 5:00 on Friday to inform their workers. These were contractors who were promised to become FTEs in 6 months when first hired, then were promised by the end of this year.

Any worker adversely affected by the layoffs at Truven Health should talk to a manager. One thing I learned from working at IBM is that speaking to a manager always brings results. You need to find out who is behind the layoffs and then file a complaint with the individual's manager.
IBM managers never, ever side with their employees when a third party is involved. You need to take advantage of this loophole and act quickly because it will save your job.

IBM paid big $$$ for Truven in the belief that applying Watson to their existing data and products would transform the marketplace. Truven had good products that were getting "long in the tooth" and needed an upgrade. They also had a GREAT team of professionals that kept it all together while the Vulture Capitalists owned them.
Like Watson Health Imaging, it looks like the "new" Watson Health products aren't going to be viable before Ginni retires, so, they are chopping heads and letting the next CEO explain how the "promise" was broken. Meanwhile, those out of date products just get older and older.
I was told that all US contractors are being cut.
A bunch of contractors in Cloud were let go also. Is this company-wide? These were not former IBMers that came back as contractors - seems like it is every contractor. No consideration of whether they were essential - 1st and 2nd line managers had no say.
