There were minor layoffs in Dell EMC Bangalore and Pune in the VMAX teams two months ago. The Dell layoff strategy is not to knock down whole teams. But do targeted layoffs. Especially target the high net worth experienced senior folks. The strategy has been to remove these long entrenched white elephants and promote younger high performance folks to higher positions. We saw two such promotions in EMC CoE recently. In these financially troubled times these promotions don't come cheap they come at the cost of some senior folks losing their jobs. Senior Directors and Directors should be specifically worried.

storage is dead - storage will become memory in the server

I second that thought.. I am really surprised that companies like Infinidat find market to sell huge expensive enclosures with rotating drives s---ing large amounts of electricity when the whole thing can be replaced with few NVMe cards. Indeed , with the present day technology there is no longer a need for dedicated storage enclosures which is the reason for the demise of EMC.

VMAX is an ancient technology, no matter how many attempts to modernize it will be attempted, it's still very old and will never be able to cope with the modern all flash arrays, expect massive layoffs from that team

I didn't see xtremio on that list....

Apparently the situation with XtremeIO is even worse than that with VMAX so I guess XtremeIO is a goner..

I was in the VMAX 950 team. I quit Dell 2 months ago. There is no good roadmap for VMAX development.
