Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Good info for those who think they are being managed out

Here's a nice to know loophole:

If you are 55+ and have been with TGT for 10 or more years, you can retire!

That means you get paid for all your accrued vacation and still get the 10% bonus. Plus they will give you a $50 Target gift card and say happy retirement.

If you feel you are being managed out, it is an option to consider. At least you get paid for all your vacation versus just leaving it on the table and getting $0 if you quit or the fire you.

This was posted by @OtInbSb-ouw in another thread, hope she/he does not mind me making it a thread because that's good info to have.

I would like to talk to anyone to discuss age discrimination, the "plan", the "list" at Target that results in resignation, retirement or layoff. This has personally touched my family and I am reaching out to anyone to understand the corporate world at Target. Has this impacted you, are you worried for your job, your coworker's job? I am not a troll an outsider or any other name some may think to call me. I am trying to understand the corporate world at Tgt and the devastation left for my family. If you can't offer me information or just want to bash me please don't respond. I cry enough tears. Thank you.

Good to know info on "retiring" if moving on after 55. Come on a completely ethical corporation like Target would never manage anyone older out. Didn't they payoff past candidates for employment because the tests they were required to take were considered age discriminatory? No fault admitted of course. How may grey hairs do you see in the skyways or going through the security desk? Too old, too fat to ugly, no place for you here. Just remember some of YOU that are doing the "managing out" will get old, fat, ugly someday. Didn't any of you watch your co workers or parents go through unspoken age discrimination? Where is your integrity and morals.......Sold out for a buck? Look in the mirror what do you see?

For those of you that have worked with integrity and fairness and a willingness to treat people with respect at ALL levels I send out a great thanks as it is rare in corporate America.

But if a person already is looking and is 55+ with over 10 years in, it only makes sense to "retire".

You will not get any of the vacation paid to you if you quit and from what I am hearing right now, TGT is not giving out any packages.

Many 55+ people have already done this when they leave TGT. It is only a suggestion that if you are leaving anyway for a new job, don't quit. Do the "retire" process so you can get paid for the vacation you have accrued. Many of us at 6+ weeks on the books. That is real money left on the table if we find a new job and just quit.

Take advantage of the policy when it works in your favor.

Getting vacation that is already owed to you and a $50 gift card hardly seems like incentive to retire. If you ar 55+ with 10 years of service, you better work harder to stay because you won't get many opportunities outside at your age.
