Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

They have to compensate for the acquisitions somehow

The industry is changing and WIN keeps buying companies and adding more debt.

This is the crust of it, @OmypWsJ-7jrr. Instead of adapting with the times and changing the approach, Windstream (an appropriate name, when you think about it) sticks it out with the failing approach, and in the end we get to pay for it with our jobs.

Has anyone heard of rumors of the company being sold?

I hope the employees that have lost their jobs are able to find gainful employment quickly. It is unfortunate that employees are the ones that lose their jobs due to the decisions of those in power. Windstream should have stayed in their area of expertise ( The consumer business). The Enterprise business appears to have been a struggle for Windstream to get moving in the right direction. I wish them well but feel that if things do not turn around you will see new leadership again. FTR is in a similiar situation. I hope Windstream is purchased by a company that can turn this ship in the right direction.

Staff managers should have went first.

Windstream laid off the wrong level of management. They put too much work on local managers and then have the balls to cut local managers positions. Who will take over that roll? Another manager from a different area. Chances are, that person already has his/her plate full and cannot take on more work. Upper manager has absolutely no clue what goes on at the lower level or there would be no way in hell they would let the ones that run the show go.

If Windstream's stock drops much more, they'll be closing the doors. Ripe for a take over. They should be getting rid of some upper management instead of the people whe actually keep the 'machine' running.
