Good Advice Not Mentioned In Top Ten: When you get laid off, take your 401K and rollover in IRA Brokerage Account such as Scottrade, AmeriTrade etc. This way you can pick individual stocks without the fees of Fidelity Mutual Funds which at best...can't beat the SP Index. If you are not comfortable buying individual stocks, buy SP Index fund plus individual stocks with your brokerage account. Since I got laid off from Shakopee Dec 6th 2016, I doubled my 401K value and severance in six months with this flexibility.
