Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Maybe a class-action is in order

Time to start loading them up with a bunch of age discrimination suits. If one $26 million dollar settlement doesn't make them rethink their SOP then maybe 20 or 30 or more will.

Any new hires know if they are making people sign arbitration binders, trying to prohibit lawsuits? I know they made people sign off an electronic form saying they acknowledge they could be dismissed without cause at any time.

Sales managers won a $42 million settlement in 2010 for unpaid overtime. Looks like it's the GMs turn now. With the lack of payroll GMs are working on the floor tasking an additional 15-20hrs a week just trying to keep up.

Agreed, @Oqdwn0H-1xih. Laid off people have been organizing and suing other companies, why not Staples?

This company (and I use that term loosely) does not care about people with work ethic or people who get things done. That was apparent when Shira hired the CTO. He has yet to provide anything tangible. He did promote PT and FH and those guys are clueless. That was an Ivy League move. No rationale, no results, but it costs a lot of money. How much will FM make off of this deal and his cronies?

I watched this happen to one of my old General Managers. He was fantastic at his job and he worked his a-- off. I still think of him as the best boss I've ever had and this was nearly a decade ago. It's sad, man.

The question is how many "Indians" were laid off? If any at all... No idea how it can be proven. I will bet a million dollars that not one of them were let go. It is like a different country when you walk into corporate now. So sad because it used to be a very good company to work for. I was one of them that was let go and yes, I am not considered young at all. 20 years...

Looks like the class action lawsuit you want is going to come from stockholders:

"On the same day that the agreement with Sycamore was reached, Staples’ board of directors adopted an amendment to the company’s by-laws that designated the Court of Chancery in Delaware as the sole and exclusive forum for any stockholder legal actions related to the transaction. Staples is clearly expecting some form of class action shareholder lawsuit and, already, at least five law firms have issued statements saying they are investigating the Staples’ board for possible breaches of fiduciary duty and underselling the company. The announcement of a formal shareholder lawsuit is just a matter of time."

too many indians and cheaters who hire indians.

I would cheer if a former employee takes the law into his own hands on Boston's headquarters. Hopefully we'd see justice on FM but I doubt it will happen.

We need some big class action suites or many smaller ones, with a lot of public exposure to destroy Staples name in the minds of the public. Also need to publically call out the villains like OP and VS.

That's the new normal. Get rid of any long term people. Heard a new Dm say one of the best GMs we had a disgruntled dinosaur. The guy was the most positive and energetic person I had known at Staples.

I work in retail the DM wants me and another manager gone He's constantly telling the GM to document us on whatever we do wrong . He doesn't like people who been around for long time and that make to much.

This needs to happen. Taking Staples for a hundred million or two will send a signal to all corporations with sleazy HR practices.
