Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

I am stunned

Just found out two H1s in my group same level and experience as me make nearly 20k more than me. Also I believe they have some other payments related to relocation as well as other allowance how is this possible. What's going on.

Do managers have much say in the actual value? My impression is that when you start a new grade you are at the 50% ranking and get the baseline for the grade at that time. Each focal year your % ranking among peers of the same grade may change. The closer you are to 0% area, the less raise you get each year and the closer you are to the 100 percentile the faster you get increases to bring you to the grade upper limit.

For G6 @ 72k it would seem this would have to be someone in that grade for 10+ years and constantly an under performer with minimal salary increases over the years. If you are G6 and have the skillset expected for that grade then you could easily get a job elsewhere for 100k+ if the salary is an issue.

Contract workers have higher hourly wage than full time workers because Intel doesn't provide any benefit such as health insurance or vacation. Those numbers are well known and should be ignored for your purpose.

Assuming all of your job code are the same and these are standard hardware or software engineering positions, then G3 ~70K to 80K and G5 ~80K to 90K are pretty standard starting salaries. If you're getting less than that, the problem isn't that others are getting overpaid, it's that you're underpaid. That's a common phenomena in the industry where standard raises aren't able to catch up with market rate.

It's unusual to see such large discrepancies, though. Usually the focal tool wouldn't even allow it. I suspect either your job codes were not the same, or you have severely under performed for many years which caused your salaries to lag your peers significantly.

G-5 (Incompetent Diversity Hire) @ $85K

Hourly tech (also Paki same as mgr) @$92K (shift diff + OT)

When I left last year the grades spanned at least 50k as I recall, higher grades even more.

Guess OP saw those data. Intel hrs are too lazy or simply don't know how to do their jobs. Just go apply those information and negotiate a good comp outside instead of complaining :)

@OsatJJS-kbi Pay grade ranges are wider than you would think. Getting a copy of somebody elses paystub data is also easier than you would think.

Exactly how did you find out their pay? Are you talking about base pay or total comp. For base pay, the scenario you described is not possible because the pay range for a particular grade level isn't that wide.

There seem to be a lot of fake posts on the Intel forum.

Those on the low end of the pay scale always bad mouth those above them... i.e brown nosers, a-- kissers, etc. But the reality is that those on the low end are either poor performers, display poor teamwork, or are too timid to negotiate what they are worth. So management exploits them. No surprises here.
