Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel has axed the group working on fitness trackers and health wearables

Nothing new, but the drip drip drip continues. How much longer before all these so-called "new initiatives" are exposed as nothing more than fads of the month being chasen by the Klown?

BASIS was a mess before it started burning its wearers....and had to be pulled from the market.

Intel overpaid in support of a flawed strategy on which it failed to execute.

Again.

How could wearable fail.

Buy hot new company with energized young and motivated employees making great new products.

Force them to the intel way, poof goes the vibe, imagination, creativity. In comes ppt spin to appease the Intel executives and the failures pile up as preception versus execution becomes the priority of the day.

That CNBC clip IS cringeworthy.

What's so crazy with the "we're going to be inside every smart device" strategy is that years of Intel monopoly has stripped every ounce of customer-centricity out of Intel. The people in leadership didn't get ahead by delighting customers or creating breakthrough products. They got ahead through political infighting and gamesmanship. Being the TA to the right person. Having a strong internal network. Communicating like and Intel-bot. And having great Powerpoint skills.

Intel is hard to work with, doesn't give two shirts about what potential customers want or need, and simply is not hungry to accommodate. I'd bet the schlub from Apple in the video saw great opportunity in coming from Apple to Intel. The raw materials and resources ($) are there. I made a similar mistake. Unfortunately the culture of arrogance and ignorance is beyond broken, leadership is hapless and no number of acquisitions or external hires can fix this.

Viva la BASIS watch. They didn't even have an API!

lxr , you seems clueless. Intel wants InD1an and Muslims only. Not blonde females!

Please BK, while you can, buy Ubeam and get into ultrasonic wireless charging. It has a female CEO too at add to you stable. Sorry you missed the opportunity to scoop up Theranos and get a blonde female CEO in the bargain. This craziness will only end when Intel runs out of cash or the ability to borrow. That's a long way down the road unless shareholders wise up.

I love the charging bowl and it's so easy to make non-functional mock ups out of plastic and paint. That 2014 video is a keeper. Always run when someone says the spent 18 years at Apple without mentioning any accomplishments!

BASIS -- everyone that understood Intel know this would be a failure from day one. $100 million dollars and lots of additional cost over the past 3 years and now it is all wiped out.

Intel is toxic and this is why Intel customers and the market in general don't trust Intel. This lack of trust is irreversible.

I hope Oakley got a big bag of cash upfront in January for its smart sunglasses. Intel's commitment to the next new thing has 3 month lifespan. Acqusitions start to die even faster,at the first press release.

"I want to be able to leave my phone at home," Intel CEO Brian Krzanich told reporters in January 2014 during a keynote

Uhhh.... why would you want to leave your phone at home? What a retard.

OMG - the 2014 video from that CNBC article is just absolute cringe-worthy. Time stamp 2:54 - ouch...

I've tried integrating and using Intel's "reference designs" - equally as cringe worthy.

From a related article: "We reached out to the individual known as 'fake news brah' for comment however they were conspicuously silent. Sources tell us this individual is extremely concerned with the elimination of devices known as 'wearables' due to a concern that the frequency of his maternal pegging sessions will be drastically reduced"

In the article: "About two weeks ago, Intel completely eliminated the group, this person said. The company's New Technologies Group, which looks at cutting-edge business areas, is now focusing on augmented reality, another source told CNBC."

So glad we pivoted to something Pokémon Go did a year or two ago.
