Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Not trying to be negative just honest about the situation

Sales are down company wide. Layoffs every 2 weeks. Store closing announcements 1 a month. BS transformation proclamation. Closing profitable stores but claiming they're not making money. Loaning Sears money after money to stay open. Each day stores open money is lost. Selling brands to other companies. Partnering up with one of the biggest competitors out here ( waving white flag). Please crash this plane and get it over with

Why the constant worry and complaint when you can do something about it? The sky is falling.....well, duh..Sears has not made a profit for years. What is perplexing is why people are still here. If you have a family, get another job! Stop whining incessantly on the internet. You will get your wish as the ship will go down - just a matter of when.

LOL..."marriage with Amazon" That's rich!

This is no marriage. Sears, or rather one of Sears's suppliers, downloaded the free Alexa toolkit from Amazon and built that into an air conditioner. Just like hundreds and hundreds of others have done for all sorts of uses. Then Sears enrolled as an Amazon marketplace seller. Just like thousands and thousands of others have done. Note this "huge" announcement isn't noted anywhere on Amazon.com. Costco doesn't sell Kirkland on Amazon. All sorts of 3rd parties resell Kirkland on Amazon. Costco is not among them. Just like several 3rd parties already sell Kenmore refrigerators on Amazon.com. Which by the way have an average rating of 2.2 stars.

This could go as bad as Alfie for SHLD. I'm sure it will generate some short term revenue. Odds are the products will start racking up bad reviews that SHLD has no control of. And don't forget, Amazon backs up shoppers on 3rd party purchases. That POS fridge you gave someone that has only worked 1 of the last 4 months? Amazon will just give them a refund and deduct it from Sears's marketplace account.

I'm sure Eddie knows all this. Its just another attempt to divert attention and pump up the stock in the short term.

You guys are hammering the OP , but i understand the fustration on both sides, i am an ASM been here a long time. Yes this will be a great thing for the Sears company and name, but for the hard working person it will be their ticket out of a job as they will close most every mall based store. To open smaller appliance stores. Ask the liquidators in the closing stores where they are going next, if they will tell you its another sears store that doesn't even know they are next on the list.

OP, let me put t this way I am glad that people like you are not in charge of the company. If you are a part of the team why would you want it to loose?

You do not like recent changes like layoffs, store closures and partnerships, but have you considered that this is a part of the "BS" transformation. Yes, it is not pretty but more things like that must be done to change the company.

OP, learn to respect yourself and people around you and one day you will find yourself in a better place.

Honestly I think this is the first time since EL started talking about his "transformation" that I see some light at the end of the tunnel. It has been clear for a very long time that Sears is failing at innovating and keeping up with the times, and failing at reaching younger demographics. If Sears can manage to see it's bad reputation turn around, a marriage with Amazon is an awesome idea. Don't get me wrong- online sales don't bode well for the physical stores, but we're talking big picture here. For Sears to survive it needs to exist on a smaller footprint and have better logistics. This is a move in the right direction.

As people have mentioned I think they want to get through the holidays and do one more milking before everything goes under.
