Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

New CFO is bad news

We stopped focusing on our business and solving real business issues. Everyone is working on various CFO initiatives - path to this, path to that...We already had many unnecessary, low value add meetings and reportings, the new CFO have multiplied the low value added workload and review meetings. Why doesn't finance focus on putting transparent, consistent financial discipline in place and let the company work on what is needed - create competitive, leading products. While everyone is cutting expenses, we are spending millions for olympics. I heard 400 million...How about managing financial discipline consistently across the company and holding everyone to the same accountability standards.

This year turned out to be worse than last year. I don't know how it happened after last year's torturous ACT. But things are out of control. now we have to deal with the new CFO who thinks he can solve intel's issues with his path to 30 and path to 300 initiatives. I tell you what. He was CFO of eBay. He and others managed to make eBay completely irrelevant. Where is eBay now? When is the last time you bought anything from eBay? If you are irrelevant, uncompetitive who cares about your paths to this paths to that. path to irrelevancy. He is really destroying the morale. What a great CFO choice.

He should listen, learn. Intel's issues are wide and deep, starting from the Boatd and the CEO goes all the way down to admins etc and it is across the board - low quality, talentless and low output employees with bad attitudes. I am sorry but it is true. Just read this board. only the highly political, sharp elbowed people have survived at Intel.

BS only seems to care about the value of his stock comp, damage to execution be damned. Just like Mark Hurd from HP, he'll fluff the stock price with spending cuts and bounce before the consequences of insufficient investment come back to hit the company.

Lover the mug shot, like the smile of a guy laughing at how he is gonna take BK and Intel employees laughing all the way to the bank as he plans to make the stock pop. Big die on 14nm, at yield targets? Then got to depreciate the 10nm and what is the yields?

Big ACTs are coming for these fianancial issues!

His compensation package would indicate otherwise: http://www.businessinsider.com/intel-new-cfo-bob-swan-23-million-compensation-package-2016-9

I heard him once say that he wants to "make his mom proud". Would his mom be proud? I thought mom's always wanted you to "treat people the way you would want to be treated" ? I think if he got a sense of what's truly happening down in the trenches, realized the flaws in the execution plans, along with the aftermath that will actually put execution at great risk....he might actually realize that his mom is not going to be proud and that he is not proud either.

Is the CFO looking into the foundry business (ICF) cost and revenue roadmap?

He may be a David please Cote disciple..they were both at GE in the late 90s..and TRW later.

Dave Cote basically has destroyed Honeywell over past 15 years.. a shell of a company.

Misery lows company. In other words, BK and MR got BS. in one or other ways. :-)

The God is that BS joined the same/equal as him. The Bad is that INTEL minions will see worse. The Ugly is that ACT2 is coming, and this one will be one magnitude stronger than previous one!

Time Will Tell

If only you could post this on Circuit and get Intel employees to it... You have to really wonder how and why the CFO was selected and also how the Board allows Intel to continue to flounder year after year... Can a new CFO truly understand the complex capital financing problems unique to semi manufacturing? Time will tell.
