They are cutting more jobs on Monday July 24th. I heard a lot from Longmont. Don't get over 50 and still work for Seagate because you are the first to go while keeping lots of foreign workers. Not even US citizens. It really Bites!!!!

So sad another week of torment for everyone involved. Those who remain have to see friends go and pick up a lot of extra work while others have their life disrupted. People don't appreciate IT until their computer won't work or their applications are not available. Many people work very hard to keep the lights on in a complex massive environment. Nobody ever calls and says thank you for my systems that allow me to do my job. To add to the misery the day of reckoning is postponed? Really? Behind every person is a family so when the folks who are paid 10-20 times the same salary as a single IT person decide who to let go, the impacted body count is three or four fold. Corporate America is this way now and our children know it. They are working to serve their own needs with no loyalty, who can blame them? Good luck everyone...hoping for better days ahead.

So were there or weren't there layoffs today? I didn't notice anything but then again I'm not exactly Mr. Current Affairs.

The in house openstack initiative is going to be a failure. The team building out the infrastructure is slow and doesn't like to play well with others.

Barclay's laid down the gauntlet and said Seagate can't cut much more to make up for catastrophically bad strategic direction at the top so, they are probably prepping for the "oh yeah, take this massive layoff! So there!" event.
