Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Long Term outlook for Weatherford

Realistically what's the long term outlook within the next 5 years? I'm a former employee who got out of the oil industry when an opportunity arised. Will Weatherford file bankruptcy? Will the company continue to downsize?

Why would Schlumberger pay for this? It is going to be a matter of who if anyone needs any part of it. Letting it die will be quicker than any review done to buy a segment of it. Worse part of it is the folks that are still there and will not have the soft landing afforded senior management when it ends. Used to be companies looked out for their people, at least to some extent.

WFT is what $7b in the red? So if let's say SLB buys only the profitable biz we will close shop thereafter. If SLB buys WFT as a whole that means at a token of $1?? Cause I thought we are $7b in the red.

Just wondering.

Yes and No, correct about the banks and investors, but how long do they throw good money after bad, this company can't make money when oil is $80 a barrel, how can they repay 7 billion in debt " that's a "B" , I'm not saying I have all of the answers but I don't think management has either, and even if they have found the great leader, it takes decades to change the culture in a company and its toxic, no chance in my opinion, what else can the investors do but hope for the best, little do they know.

You are correct my grasshopper. Lots of bankers necks are on the line, and the investors will loose their shirts if it sinks. Do not look for any major changes for the next 7 to 10 years.

Banks and investors cant afford for WFT to fail so unless the price of oil dips below $30 for a prolonged period then WFT will survive.
