Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

I got blindsided with a job elimination at Cigna a few years ago - no severance was received even though I was expecting it. At that time (2014) there were many layoffs and the review process was too rigid - really, I'd say not fair . Cigna managers have to select people who are under performing even if there aren't any - this forces them to select folks who do good job and it gets political and who kisses-a-- better and who is better connected...

Cigna, in my mind, spends too much time in the vertical world. There is very little room for input from mid level and front line employees to the overall decision making process - you are kept in the dark and you are not expected to contribute on this level - all of this is done by management. It is a true rigid top down organization. Finally, I hated and wasted a ton of my time trying to control approvals, is this really necessary? What a royal waste of time.

I left on my own in 2016, it was a middle of a road job but what was driving me nuts is that about every 6 months, there was another management plan with new round of layoffs - the work was very regimented, rigid with little freedom for critical thinking and any initiative - Cigna has a procedure for everything, you cannot go take a break without being impacted with some kind of process/procedure...

Also, there is something that I call CIGNA-speak, sometimes very convoluted sentences peppered with a ton of acronyms, technical and process details, etc.. Throughout my three year tenure I felt that I had to document every single thing I do - this is critical for job evaluations too (there were kind of fair - so no complaints there)
