Summary and Purpose of Our Open Letter

This Open Letter is long, but its message is simple: “Set an example that others can follow.” Be worthy of your esteemed brand and heritage. Our founder’s son exemplified IBM’s foremost principle: “Show respect for the individual.” Today we have serious concerns about very low morale among IBMers and its adverse impact on growth and shareholder value. We believe the essence of what that makes IBM exceptional and innovative—its values and culture—is jeopardized by recent edicts issued by headquarters that have resulted in business disruptions, unfair labor practices, concerns about corporate governance, and departure of long-term employees with valuable, and sometimes irreplaceable skills.

There's no point. Everyone knows what they did. It would be nice, however, if the bounced employees sue and publish findings, I'm sure there are plenty of smoking guns lurking on hard drives.

What's point of this? The future of technology is beyond IBM reach long ago. Even before I was co-located out, though I was consistently rated 1 and 2+ every year, in Development we are borrowing other people stuffs, such as from Google, instead organic innovation. We performed out of own pride and honor. IBM expects loyalty from employees but treat us as objects with quarter by quarter job horizon. I had been doing this for 30 years with many patents and awards but honestly, I have not missed my old high pay and grand title job for one day since leaving IBM. The heart simply no longer there by happier.
