Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Query

It is unethical for a supervisor to have a direct report that they are 'seeing' - correct? And if it were to occur, it is required to be declared in the annual ethics report, else face disciplinary action.

So, hypothetically, if that were to have occurred, say at an executive level, without disclosure, and that direct report was then promoted to a very senior role, should we expect the same company standards to be applied, or is there a different standard?

Let's not forget the man is a position of power behaving badly here. S-xual misconduct in the workplace is completely unacceptable and shockingly pervasive. At least other companies are doing something about it.

If it involves the exec level, the answer is yes, a different standard would apply. Thise who make the rules don't need to adhere to the rules. The rules are made for the peons beneath them.

Have you ever called the ethics hotline or contacted Legal about a violation? If so, you know it's a joke. If you want action, send the spouse a snail mail letter, but don't try internal procedures.

Agree. Let the spouse know for best results.

If you have facts, then report it to Ethics, and stop being a baby.

Otherwise you are just spreading rumors. Anyone on this anonymous web site can say whatever they like - 99% of what you read on here is Fake News.

Letting the spouse know is probably the most effective.

-ksp works for HR or Ethics. Of course give all the details. Details will disappear and so will your job.

You might as well kiss your job bye if you report to the ethics department. You will slap a big target on your back. You will be made out to be the wrong-doer. The ethics department is there to protect the company and its leaders.

We talk Safety, Environmental, Ethics... but this is no longer who we are. Don't call the pretend Ethics hotline. If you are aware of a violation... look away or move on.

Contact the ethics office and provide all details and evidence available. You don't have to give your name, but I suspect any investigation would progress faster. You will be protected from retaliation.

A bunch of old men with families, and somebody is "seeing" an employee? A note to the wife of the former ought to clear that up!

Yes - last I recall it was the CONOCOPHILLIPS code of ethics without exclusion.
