HW layoff date confirmed

Moving boxes have been ordered to be delivered Wednesday morning. It doesn't seem to be on a Thursday this time.

Yeah, they can’t even do a layoff without screwing it up…

In the 08 Riata building most people have already moved most of their stuff out, so its not really going to matter. What a mess.

I can confirm this. They have moved all the boxes to the storage room near the loading dock at the north west corner of the Riata building.

Which Parmer site? Riata?

I was in the Parmer Office in Austin today. Tons of boxes were delivered and left outside near the main doors.

LOL! You still expect oracle to be a well managed company where things ( such as box orders/ arrivals and layoffs) are coordinated and make sense? Has it ever been - NO! It's an unmitigated F$k mess. After all, it is LE's company and he doesn't give S$t about managing anything

the "boxes story is not a rumor, it was passed down through senior managers meeting(s).

Someone just started a rumor about these "boxes". So that others can confirm or deny. Enough of this childish attempts to cry "wolf" in an echo chamber to get information !

Sorry, but boxes ordered for delivery on Wednesday (OP) delivered on Saturday (@OW18POE-1hvm). Oracle clearly needs a better box office. The same company that is said to monitor this site postpones a layoff according to another entry, can't even get ordering of boxes right. Hey, people, something is not making sense here.

Interviewing s---s, for sure. But I'm at peace with this. It's been fun. We've built products that I'm proud of. We've assembled an awesome team. Nothing is permanent, everything is temporary. Happiness, sadness, even the greatest team. Thank you Oracle for all the fun years and the interesting stuff I got to work on. I'll leave you guys with this: go ahead and clean out your office. There is no need to do the walk of shame with your box. If nothing else, leave them with a gazillion boxes to try to figure out what to do with. lol.

I think someone will still have to come and clean it out the offices

@OW18POE-ngj Nothing generous about it. Cardboard boxes are much cheaper than paying someone else to come in and clean out your office.

If boxes are not required to be distributed to outgoing employees by CA law, this would be so generous of Oracle.

If what @aom says is legit this will be an epic leak worthy of thelayoff.com's best leaks list...

I remember there was a leak on Sun that we had here a year ago, that thread got 200k views and was quoted by pretty much all tech media (TheReg, etc.)

I can confirm this date . This information is legit.

We had a meeting with a senior manager yesterday and the pass down was as follows:

  • moving boxes were ordered in large quantines and they are arriving Wednesday.

  • the layoffs may/will happen on Wednesday this time, contrary to what it's normally is on Thursday. However he said if it's not Wednesday its Thursday.

  • still no communication from the people upstairs and even senior managers are still in the dark, so the assumption based that it will be massive layoffs that will include managers/employees.

  • recommendation was to clean your personal information from your laptop, print previous pay stubs ( to apply for unemployment later on) and start looking seriously.

True

Management and HR are watching this board. They are aware of the Fedex trick and that everyone knows the playbook. They are now picking a different day to keep everyone on their toes.

I'm ready for my number to be up. I can't stand it here anymore but I want that package.

Does anyone know if next week will target Solaris Dev and sustaining , as well as hw, or do they plan to stretch this torture out into next quarter?

Hoping there's wine on our last day while we pack up and ship out! The potluck was awesome BTW. It was so good to see everyone and talk to people from other groups. It felt like old Sun days! I'll never forget the memories I have made working with the SPARC group. I don't care what anybody says-We pumped out some good products and always delivered towards the end. This place has been my 2nd home for so many years. I got married and had children with all of you by my side. You gave me the biggest baby shower ever! These are the memories I choose to take with me. Not the negative. Let's have one more get together in the halls next week before we begin our next chapter!!!

I recall the moving boxes being delivered the day before layoffs the last time around. So 8/31 would be a very logical date. It's the end of pay period and the end of Q1 as the previous poster pointed out.

You really think HR & exec mgmt care that leaks come out before the date? They don't care and certainly aren't going to redo the target rif date because of some anonymous blog post.

The end of Q1 is August 31 and sales cutoff dates to get bookings in are over, so it makes sense to do a rif on the 30th or 31st and clear out the books of vacation for Q1 reporting. 31st is payday and it takes time to process all the checks & fedx's, so not easy to move dates at the last minute. And given how much drama the rumors create, probably not the best for bringing in last minute big sales if everyone is freaking about what day it is. When your number is up- it's up and doesn't matter if it's this week or next.

Let's keep posing expected dates, so that the management won't be able to pick up a date not on this board. #MOGA#
