IBM has been laying off key people for years based on broad division / group budget without any regard to needs. It hurts morale and kills ability to execute. I have heard from some people that they are now using "performance Improvement Plans" (PIP) as a vehicle to cut more people without the visibility or that an official layoff might have.

Anything "cloud" is smoke and mirrors BS. It's will die out sooner than later. It's just that all the VP's and CIO's of non tech companies are being brainwashed and given golden hand-obs by the top to top dog and pony shows and top sales cult leaders. When the bill comes due - the cloud myth gets destroyed.

Glad to see that Ginni is puting emphasis into the CLOUD that will save IBM .... oh, wait. Oops. Gotta bring in Watson to replace all the programmers and support staff I guess.

The Gearbox program has ended. Those folks that were gearboxed got their notice over this last week. 90 more days than 30 severance.
