Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Lexington KY

I don't know how the rest of the company is being ran but here in Lex Ky it seems as if management has lost all touch with their employees. This used to be a decent place to work. Now I feel like I die a little more inside when I show up to work. All last year we heard management say that we were too heavy on techs in the city and now they want all hands on deck everyday for at least 10 hours because we can't keep up with the work. First chance I get at finding other employment then I'm gone. Rant over.

From the outside looking in that's been a good problem to have at the companies I've been with. Last year things weren't selling and there were too many people. Fast forward a year, changes are taking shape, and a company starts selling more again, so you need more workers. I see this sentiment a lot in the Windstream posts here. Be thankful you have folks that are willing to change. And for the love of God, if you hate it that bad then yes, for your own health get the heck out of there.

You are not alone...everyone you talk to share this same sentiment... with the latest reorg in engineering...we have reached another low...no one left to do the work and more roadblocks. Employees morale is at a new all time low. What a shame ... been with this company for a very long time and until they actually start listening to the employees...this company is doomed! I also cannot believe the CEO still is employed!

I am 40 and took the package, also way too young to retire, but the way I see it, I could have been walked out with nothing and then had to struggle to find another job fast. I have a year to get things done and pursue something else, which I am glad of, so I give the company that.

The problems start at the top, the gutless wonders. So many times we brought legitimate solutions and each time they were ignored.

That feeling is all over. I took the most recent buy-out package and got it. Wait to see if you get another package offered and take it. Corporate has taken over too much of the day-to-day and it is having a "big government" effect and they don't ask the field guys' opinions or want any critiquing. Directors and management are threatened with "do or else." Good luck!
