You should ask to speak to an IBM manager to receive your 401(k) prior to leaving in December. Find out which IBMer is withholding the 401(k) and then talk to that person's manager.

IBM managers never, ever side with their employees in these types of circumstances and you need to take advantage of this loophole to collect your matching funds. If you don't speak to a manager right away then you will lose out on the IBM-contributed funds.

Reading so many of the "Proud to be an IBMer" comments on W3 gives me a chuckle.

They are nothing but pathetic brainwashed morons that pander to anything Ginni says.

I would love to see how many of those brown nosers get the axe and ask them if they are still proud of their measly 30 day severance package and pink slip.

@ Post ID: @OOAnXVd-1fqt Yes i was Gearboxed too. I have something setup for my self so I am not concerned about future employment but have been amazed at the 0 communication for 3 months with pay checks just rolling in. How does a successful company operate this way? I guess... they don't. I am looking forward to the meeting when it happens, to close this chapter and move on.

TO the person who wrote this : "meanwhile all the Gearboxed people from 3 months ago are still getting paid with no end in site"

I was one of those on the list of Gearboxed people from back in May.... so yes relieved that I no longer need to look over my shoulder. if your were on that list do not be surprised if you get a call or a mtg request telling you its finally over from your mgr...

The day they announced layoffs in the US, same day they announced hiring 675 employees in India.

All that is left is existing business and the employees have been outsourced to Brazil and India. They know next to nothing and are a year behind in catching up on any account. The end is near.

No division nor GEO is immune nowadays. Its widespread, Cloud is being hit (see above link) Commerce/Cognitive... etc. As far as GEOs go its the same story with a larger concentration in the US to trim down all teams, get rid of tenured IBMers 10+ years, employees approaching retirement, and hire in young millennials at lower salaries . No job/career is a guarantee when you work for someone but for the past 1 1/2 at IBM, with revenues consistently declining, IBM losing market-share everyday , great contributors being let go, your guarantee is that at some point in time they will RA you . All I can say is that I am happy to finally know when my last day is and what I am walking away with so that the looking over my shoulder can cease.
