This was the worst run layoff ever. Nobody in HR knew what was going on and when I would finally get someone to give me an answer, it was wrong (2 times). I don't agree with who I was told had to be laid off. It wasn't the people I said. They weren't my worst How did this happen?
Agreed, @OH6E0wm-4zhr. This was ridiculous. I have no idea what criteria was used to choose people. It certainly was not merit.
I'm another one, my best we're not the ones that were let go. They were the ones who pushed back or disagreed with management.

I wouldn't say you are bitter necessarily, just that it is more comfortable to blame the personnel decisions on "brown-nosing" than to accept that in the view of the company you were just not the best candidate for the job. It's ok. It doesn't mean you aren't good or even great at what you do. It just means someone else was a better fit, likely due to a combination of factors. Also, a positive attitude, likable personality, and alignment with company goals and superiors' goals should not be confused with brown-nosing.
I agree the brown nosers stayed! and no I am not a bitter x employee. Just saying what I saw.
In my group, the correct people were let go. Not to say those let go were not good people because they were. They were great workers and did a very good job with everything asked of them. They will be dearly missed. But the people left in my group are the top performers. The most skilled, knowledgeable and capable ones. The folks who will be able to help Denbury succeed going forward.

How can so many managers be saying they had their lists changed and the worst employees were the ones sent home?
