As part of the severance package, there should be several months of COBRA coverage available. But when that runs out, if you don't have a job with benefits (or a spouse with one), here are a couple of options that I'm aware of.

This was recommended to me by a former employee of Denbury (who left several years ago but is now unemployed). They say it's not health insurance, but it functions in a similar manner. Much less expensive than COBRA or Obamacare options, as long as you qualify. You can read more about it at the link above and decide if it interests you or not.

A friend of mine is an agent at this more traditional healthcare insurance group. Note that their plans aren't available from healthcare.gov (neither is the plan above), but the plans (or at least some of them) do qualify under Obamacare. I do not know how the costs here compare to COBRA or what's available at healthcare.gov but I've been told there are less expensive options available.
Hopefully nobody actually ends up needing my suggestions above, but I felt obliged to share what I know on this subject for those who might end up needing to look into this.
