Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

COP geting a lot of praise

Lots of positive articles showing up by the financial press for COPs strategy during these tough times. Share price is looking on track to finish in the top 25% of peer performers due to some strategic moves that others failed to make.

VCIP should be pretty good this year if things stay on course like they currently are.

This has been a tough three years, but some of the service companies are announcing the beginning of a turnaround and see energy prices moving higher in the next 24 months as the lack of investment made by the industry starts to catch up with supplies.

Good news coming!

Field depletion >> new production coming on line. It's a cycle and we're on the upswing as a much leaner company after the ECO culling hits

I know! I told some of my friends that I still got a share of my VCIP even after being let go. They couldn't believe it! I did have to wait until the following year - but most other companies say that if you are not an employee on Dec 31 then you don't qualify. I wish I was still an employee, but am thankful they did not shaft me like I've seen elsewhere.

I wouldn't hold my breath on VCIP either. But all of my buddies at other companies have not had any bonus or raises for three years, so I feel lucky that we still get something. Not like the good old days, but certainly better than others!

We had an employee die on the job this year... HSE metric negative... don't count on a good metric.
