Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel to sell fabs and process development?

To be clear, Intel already lost manufacturing process lead years ago. Marketing sayz something else, but everyone who has aces to pdk and can compare it with design rules of other foudries know reality. Now, 14nm is pushed over it's limits because it is needed to sell processors pushed over their designed frequency or big dies designed for servers are selling at relatively low price... It remind me Pentium 4 times... Plus with mess called 10nm, with performance still far below 14nm but higher power consumption...

I mentioned Pentium 4 times but i am afraid of one difference. Back then we was strong and able to support division in hard times. But now it is different. If something does't go with plan, they will cut it. With falling priority in core business and aiming (and heavily investing) into new areas, where lot of silicon is manufactured outside Intel foudry...

I am afraid of what if they realize that being fabless is better for them? Will we be in next 12 000 as a price of next transition?

TMG s---s so bad the only customers are captive internal that are forced to use them.

Look at TMG would you want to give them your business with how they treat people?

Split is not option. Eventual fab spinoff will never attack serious customer.

One part TMG would be a worthless boat anchor that Intel would have to pay someone to take.

X86 and product team would be easily worth 60 bucks a share, but than pay someone to take TMG, as the only people TMG can get business is from captive customers, and set free they would all go to TSMC

What happens to the stock if intel splits into two companies? Would one company be chip fab and the other be software, firmware, and other stuff?

Fab buildings can be repurposed as either indoor soccer/hockey play parks

or maybe indoor water parks?

How many are there in US, 7 or so?

BK is A TMG monkey 🐒. Will be hard for him to cut his buddies so he will gown down with TMG

But OP is correct, x86 client and sever if cut from the TMG boat anchor would be worth probably 50-60 dollars a share.

Today x86 is a 250million unit business smaller than either Samsung or Apple Aps processor.

TSMC and Samsung foundry could easily support the volume and for far cheaper than TMG.

Intel 22nm, 14nm while on the surface appear denser are actually very difficult and restrictive to design in. Wonder why intel process has no ICF customers, because intel process s---s to work in! Ask any intel designer who has designed in Foundry where they prefer to do their design and manfucturing, it ain't TMG.

Then factor TMG failure on 10nm and you got there Waterloo for Intel, tipping point past.

Next year will be a year of spectaculat ACTs

What the heck would they do with the billion dollar plus fabbuildings? They're all attached to other intel properties. What a mess.
