I found it amusing that after probably half of the company spent the rest of their day on Thursday following the Townall monitoring this very website, and IT swoops in and blocks the domain while on the network. What, really, do they expect us to do? I've turned off the wi-fi to view it on my company cell phone. Maybe I'll get canned for using too much data....

Let's see how many of the IT contracts are gone when this is all done, let alone the money then spend on coaches which most of us don't trust but still have to play along with. How much of a cost saving would that have been? For reporting to the CFO it doesn't appear that he checks where IT spends its money.
If it weren't bad enough that we may lose our job, now we have to solve the mystery of the true identity of "butt boy". Geesh, my mind can't process all of this. (p.s. Thanks for the humor in this thread).
There's that "butt hurt" guy again everyone. Every department has awesome people and every department has a few #%^€£+¥S. At every turn, he keeps standing up for the IT department but claims he isn't in IT. Hope you got my message before the mods deleted it butt boy. Now you are taking up for your boss to try and score some more points. Everytime you post something, the color brown comes to mind. Your fellow IT people know what you are doing ... Yours is coming .... "BUD" ....
Everyone in the company, IT included, is on their phones checking these threads regularly -- regardless of which department we are in, we are all concerned about our jobs. whether you think a particular group or even individual adds value, at some point they were answering a job posting just like you and excited about a career at what denbury once was.
I respect CK for addressing this situation directly, but the time between announcing and doing shouldn't have been this long. the stress levels are only rising.
as for the site blocking, i seriously doubt network IT decided that on their own, nor that it's an attempt to keep people in the dark more completely.
it was probably a risk mitigation thing for denbury's legal protection. if things get out of hand here, denbury doesn't want to have any responsibility to be digging up IP logs or network traffic. and they probably want to be able to say they did what they could to prevent an uncontrolled situation on their equipment.
in the end, this is a lose/lose situation for everyone, except possibly people who were compensated with a lot of stock below the $5 point.
tell us this is coming and you stress people out and expose yourself to risk of that stress causing people to act out.
don't tell us, and people feel blindsided.
good luck to everyone. hope things turn around soon for those staying and that those who are leaving find greener pastures soon.
CIO is a good guy. Don't be butt hurt that you can't handle the oil field pressure and take it out on other groups.
Why isn't the management not doing anything about that CIO? Corruption perpetuates top-down.
IT organization was ruined by CIO after all. Corrupt egotistic person who gets away with anything and everything strongly backed by CFO. Feel for the IT boyz.
Think the fact they are keeping us in a dark has more to do with people being in a "panic-mode", than anything else. As @OE175No-2iie said, this site is just a resource to shed some light on the matter.
I'll certainly never look at the IT department the same again, after all the trash posted! A lot of really angry people!
this thread is a prime example of why this site has been blocked.
There is nothing on here that's useful what so ever. " who is your office crush, really??? you guys are all in this together and don't need to be fighting with each other. the only thing this site is doing is causing panic and anger. maybe you need to ask yourself if you shouldn't block this yourself instead of waiting for IT or HR to do it.
you also need to realize that the other HALF of this company just cant come to a stand still. There are still wells to be ran, construction going on, repairs being done on flow lines , pumps, compressors.... these things are dangerous. and you can bet they are seeing all this too. and its distracting everyone.
Instead of hiding in the bathroom with your phone looking at this crap, call someone in the field and check on them, make sure they are safe.
Them in IT will be the first on the chopping block given how well compensated they are. They are sh--ting their pants right now and they are #1 visitors hire, I can guarantee you that...
Please read the site rules - no need to get vulgar here... Anyhow, use of personal names, threats, foul language is not allowed and they will delete all your posts and will block your IP if you are not following the rules. Granted, you can use a proxy to go around this but your posts cannot be recovered and you'll have to deal with all hassle that proxies bring....
At this point in time, this site is the most useful resource we have (since they keep us in the dark) - anyhow, I am in IT and pretty much every single one of us is on this site daily (as other said, just use the cell phone)....
Lol i see "bud". I get it now. YOU are IT. Hahahahahaa! Just wait. Your turn is coming, and then I want to hear you preach then. Only IT would answer the way you did. All these people have done a wonderful
Job for the company over the years. But when the COMPANY screws up and you have legitimate concerns about the welfare of you and your familes' future, everyone should just chill and pretend nothing is going on? Sheep to the slaughter? This isn't cyberslacking "bud". This is real concerns and real problems and the company isnt going to gjve a damn about how it affects you or the obligations you have to make. Go on ... block everything but the intranet. Shut off all outside access (except the IT department of course ... because you guys are sooo busy and productive)...
It will not change a thing or affect productivity in any way. Just fuels your god complex ...
Just turn of wifi on your cell. Then you're using cellular and it cannot be tracked unless subpoenaed by from the phone company.
Quit wasting your time worrying about HR and IT, take control of the situation. If you can't work, it would be a good idea to update your resume. Take control of the situation. And I bet you that IT is tracking any attempts to access this site. The RIF list might be updated for those using company internet to access this website.
Yeah just don't be on the DNR internet.
So now people can just use a cell phone ?
Ummm that IS how it works. Don't get butt hurt that IT blocked you from a site that was making you even LESS productive.....bud
Yeah still getting paid ... doesn't work like that bud ... you sound like a manager that knows he is safe. Stupid move on IT's part... Corporations have left the employee loyality model, and employees are still trying to play the game the way they've always played it. They changed the rules people...time to change the way you play the game. The classic struggle of the haves and have nots.... There is no "personal" in business anymore. What goes around comes around though. They will find it extremely difficult to retain quality help in the future...just like so many other firms. You either pay for good help or you pay out the a-- for insurance and screw ups...
What you're still getting paid to do!
