Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Reality in dell emc storage

Been in this company for a long time to understand how things work.

Engineers who work hard, get the job done in time, made an impact to the products were all shown door or some left by own as they can't deal with politics or management in NDC and Hopkinton. Let's be honest.......managers due to their incompetence feel insecure with top performers.

Those under skilled employees who don't show up to work or browse internet all day or talk on phone all day or walk around building all day or work from home for the most part of the year still have jobs. Managers don't give a damn as long as they are comfortable with teams they manage.

Is it not fiduciary duty of managers/directors to act in the best interest of the company and business unit products. Yes in every successful company but not in DELL EMC.

Also we don't like emc employees when they show up with mac book pros !

#Bottom line is LEADERSHIP MATTERS and it should start from top.

BDC is still worse with old directors who are just having fun playing video games and watching YouTube and being paid handsomely. On top of this you have free Hopkinton trips where they drink, shop and make merry. All without any core technical skills.

Easy money at Dell!! Be big buddies with a box of rocks. Think of them as a pet rock paying you huge money each year to do nothing.

Find me if you can at Dell and say hello.

Every manager I had at EMC was dumber than a box of rocks - no joke

I had 6 managers over the years - pretty damn sad

Not all managers at EMC are like those you have described. Yes, there are such managers but my personal experience was with managers who were not like the above described. I have more than a decade with EMC high end storage. I observed other things from my job through the years - there were many silos and the managers were running their departments like their own fiefdoms. Also in the US sites there were at least three dominant subcultures: israeli subculture, white anglosaxon/american and indian. I have worked with groups which were dominated by each of the three subcultures. My preference is to work with anglosaxon/americans because they were the least biased from the three. Of the three the least favorite one is the israeli culture because of their prejudices and bias toward anybody who is not of their own kind. The problem is that in EMC high end storage the Israelis were on key positions controlling things like patents and were decision makers. This should not have happened for obvious reasons - they were simply promoting their own kind and their lackeys. In my new company I made sure there is no such thing so I am glad to be away from this phenomenon.

We are paid way too much at equallogic ndc along with 150% bonus and huge LTI's so stick it to the company, can't imagine how much my managers and directors are making. Along with no work what so ever,
