Stupid decision by Seagate, glad the effect is biting them now!
I strongly believe if Seagate had not made the choice of letting DH run the storage world for them.....But let the Xyratex teams take control of the whole operation.....things would have been so different....
Cray will make an absolute fortune of the CSSG program and the remaining Seagate OSS and DH programs will struggle to ship anything let alone make any $$$..
Bad choice Seagate....
Watch Cray come employ a load of ex Xyratex employees you cast of as useless....
many of those employees had 30 years + experience.. but you plan saw them being replaced with people who in some cases had a few days experiance...good job
Banglore was a huge mistake and Dana messed it up even more - now we are seeing the consequences.
From Dothill to Downhill...haha
Dana and his merry men thought that killing of Xyratex and taking on their product range would be a breeze, they hardly even consulted the outgoing teams to fully understand the requirements. They basically took the stance...we are a storage company too....how hard can it be...
Well that's come round and bit him in the arse hard...CSSG sold of cos they can't do it.....rst of product range months floor..
People.flying all over the world trying to fix it...all have little or no chance on their ownnof recovering it.....
Gj Dana...you should have listened
Dana has managed to achieve his life goals. Build up a company, sell it off for a load of cash, kill of his major superior opposition (Xyratex), and now potentially buy back his old company for next to nothing. Meanwhile, the little people get totally screwed.
Dana will probably buy it back for $1 and sell it on for $$$$$
I hope STX can stick to what it knows best and stop branching out so much.
Stop paying dividends and paying off people who have grown with core business so much. Does it work out in hiring new grad's and let go the old?
Dothill can f--- off!
Dana hinted at layoffs using other terms, like 'restructuring' "downsizing," "reorganizing," "incremental synergies," organizational efficiency," "offshoring," "streamlining," "headcount reductions" "workforce rebalancing." "simplifying structure," "organizational improvements," "right-sizing,"
I suspect lay off will be January
They paid premium price about 600 million, now realized that not compatible to existing products. I doubt they will eliminate the whole group sgter BCG review in January.
What I know is they tried to sell if not 50% cut.
I heard that. Highly unfortunate lot of companies firing employees getting another job is very tough.
