Thread regarding Anadarko Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Out with the old, in with the new

On a the new hires. It makes me think the layoffs were more about old timers and money. They could have cross-trained people to do other things. Unless it is a very specific job people can be cross-trained. This is especially true in the world of IT for example. If they see they need a job then look harder at the people to cross-train and move to other jobs. Given the opportunity workers might just surprise you.

This seems to be modus operandi for a lot of companies these days, so it would not surprise me at all that Anadarko is one of them. The first thing they go for when cutting operational costs is experienced workers who have earned their raises over the years. What they don't get is that getting rid of experienced folks will harm the company in the long run. But who cares, right. The quarter results looked good, and that's all that matters.

For being such an exceptional employee I'm surprised you never learned to spell. There is nothing worse than an old drunk (you've made it very apparent who you are) getting online to talk badly about ex-coworkers. If your new job is so great then why 2 years later are you still so hung up on Anadarko. Get off the booze and get some 1st grade grammar lessons.

I worked in the DJ basin. Safety and PSM/ASM a joke. They retaliate if you say something and/or try to do the right thing. My stuff ran good, while the other shift rode on my coatails. Always had to fix their crap. I was laid-off and the losers got promoted. I knew I was getting the ax, and other co-workers didnt believe me, and said i should be the last to go. The work is what i enjoyed, not the politics. Glad I am gone, and don't want to come back. Colorado and Texas is proof enough.

Remember: Everyone goes home policy does not exist. They have an acceptable loss ratio. Dummies actually told me this.

Thank you for sticking up for me. It hurts so much sometimes not to have the support of people I spent so many years working with. And now they ridicule me when all I want is to be heard, a little feeling, a little understanding. Just like when we worked together and I used to sit in your offices and talk and talk and talk about the mundane things you couldn't even fathom. But I got back love and support. Don't know why I was laid off. And now I gots nobody to talk to, at least since my cats died. Thank you my friend

Oh well such is life. I was a GIS analyst until March 10, 2016 when I was shown the door. However, I was able to skate every parking garage within a five block radius of the Granite Tower which was fun. Wishing everyone there the best!

I will reply one more about apc and there layoffs and will say no more. They gave me my layoff after 25 years of building out everything in the powder river Gillette area. I was a high paid manager but was let go from a promoted person that I did not want to hire in 2007 because his experience did not add up. But he was hired as a operator and could not make it. Then he went to i & E and he could not do that job. Then he went back to coal seam without my recommendation and should have been let go . That was my recommendation but I switch departments to build out Hilight witch I did . And this person witch abosolutly has no Experience in any real gas situation becomes my area manerger and he wants me out of the way. So thank you apc for my money it was nice. And Know I'm being paid better to win And you are left with nothing for a manager. Keep him. He knows this. And knows who he is and trying to transfer

I cannot help but to reply to this APC never did there homework in there layoffs. If you call me a old timer at 48 then so be it. But what they left in the powder river Gillette was flat suecide. Now with that said I'm with a new company in the powder kicking there a-- because of the people left at apc have no clue. And they will not win. Thank you apc for my severance of 25 years . Your paying for it on both ends. And I'm being paid better from my new company. Again I will say this happened across your company because they assumed there less experienced so called supervisors and managers were better. They were smoking something because of prices and thought they were trained. Well apc you lost at then end . That's why u blow up orla tx or peoples houses in colarado. So good luck I'm going to kick your guys a-- out of wyo and it will not be hard. Thanks though for the money apc paided out. Good luck with your baby boomers. Hope it works out apc experience pays toward your stock price. A lesson you are learning

Not surprisingly, this is the case. It's my understanding that APC will not re-hire past employees who were laid off (not that I would go back in the first place). However, many positions are being re-filled by bringing back past employees who quit in later years only to be offered current positions today. Secondly, although I realize times were good when we (laid off people) were there, however, talking to current APC employees and noticing the grim conversation and their scared expressions nails down the fact that times have changed at APC, and, it's apparent that the times have changed for the worst. Many people I knew at APC have left the company voluntarily and have pursued other opportunities due to the fact that APC is such a horrible and stressful company to work for. Seriously people, do you really want to move (i.e. be forced to move or get laid off without severance) to Midland, Texas? Shame on you APC.
