Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Layoffs will continue

When there was busy operation worldwide and oil was at 80, revenue per employee was 280k and layoffs started.

There is no much operation and oil isnt 80 anymore and operators contractual obligations are ending.

If we are not earning 280k individually forncompany, we are considered waste.

No matter what pk says he will do his best to avoid lawsuit from investors, so expect layoffs for next few years.

Pretty much what @NSijDMS-1gle said, bumped for those who believe we are safe. It's simple math for them, they do not pay attention to the fact that laying off good workers will harm the company in the long run.

Renewables, clean energy, low price shale, batteries all are headwinds,

How many of them oil industries can fight? None!

There is only one way to have oil price raised which is temporarily and artificial,

That is ofcourse not a pleasant thing to have....

Slb usually follows what other service companies do!

Even in wages and benefits so yes I think you are right.

Low pay is the future but also now. Baker pay cut during downturn is at least 30-40% and expect more to come.

Some of these dumbs are snakes and they will find a way to survive, but survival is the best they can do.

My boss and his boss and his boss are snakes.

There's no future in the oil service sector anymore. Read the news. Shale oil will dominate for years becuz its cheaper. The only people left in this sector will be those who don't have good qualifications to move on to better jobs. Low pay is the future in oil.

Thats true, in majority of domains slb do s---.

Slb only survived because of inefficiency in operation and high oil price where getting work done at any cost could be accepted.

The game is changed now. Suddenly 1000's of small service contractors raised which work with higher technology in what they are specialized.

No room for companies such as slb.

Transformation could be a key to make slb a good compay but they messed it and turned it into a cancer metastasized entire company.

Dont let that title schlmberger fool you, all they want is profit. If talk about technical, technologies they not the top one to work for. All kind of paper manager , engineer . Top manager dont even care, they all about how to max out their benefit when retire and other than that thet sont care. I make a tough decision when i left slb 7 years ago. But for a better engineer career i have to. Good luck to all my coworker.

I feel the same way. I felt very sad when slb let me go but it turns out to make me getting into an E&P company which makes me open my career in a different chapter!

I still wish slb all the best because it used to be the best working place i had!

When in slb, I thought slb is one of the best. Now in client, although i dont earn much but slb seems a bad and cheap place for work.

It feels like I wasted 18 years of mylife. Slb is good for first 2 years.

Have to laugh at the people who comment on here, as if layoffs in SLB are something new and unexpected. Anyone who felt 'safe' at any point in the last 20 years at least was deluding themselves. The last few years have been a little less 'safe' than usual, obviously, but we as employees always been dispensable. That's a fact I've known since I started in the last half of the 90's, and it's never changed. This talk of anyone being 'safe' ever is coming from newbies who think jobs for life are handed out on a silver platter if you work hard enough, those of us that have been around the block a few times know that if you want safety you're in the wrong f---ing business. Make your money while you can then get the f--- out.

Fallig in love with public company and being loyal along with trusting seasonal announcement from management is just wrong.

Feeling unsafe and doing something about it should be top priority in day to day living. imo
