Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What can happen after Q2 numbers are announced

There already have been targeted layoffs for IoT and NDG. The question is what will happen after the Q2 numbers (and Q3 guidance) come out later in July. Options are (1) Nothing -- meaning no mass layoffs and no more targeted below-the-radar layoffs, (2) Another ACT-style mass layoff, (3) Continuation of targeted below-the-radar layoffs, or (4) items (2) and (3). I hope for option (1), fear option (4) is an eventuality and guess that for now it'll be option (3) and it will be presented in a vague, non-specific way to minimize employee worry while extracting maximum fiscal and stock price effect.

To be honest @NxeOBfj-wyrx, I believe that nothing happening is not an option. It will most likely be a toss up between a quick mass layoffs option and a publicity and morale "friendlier" under-the-radar layoffs option - the news of which they hope will not get traction in the media.

Somebody loaded up on Oct 20 34.00 Puts in a big way recently. Largest position so far on any option. My guess is that the Put and Short volume will increase and the Street will keep up the price in the 34-35 range right up until earnings. And then get out of the way. There's no way Intel are coming in with good Q2 news and the recent competitive action and stock slide reflect as much. I honestly think we have seen INTC's best price anyone will ever see again. It is NOT a growth stock.

Would like to see the stock rise so the only realistic way for this to happen will be to engage layoffs and improve productivity numbers.

I don't know except that SOMETHING will happen. And it can't be stay the course.

Between the pc refresh cliff, server decline and competitor attacks, we are facing headwinds like never before.

Not to mention a decade of failed new directions. Fireworks drones and cheap auto chips ain't gonna save us fellas. Wish they would but this CEO has cried wolf too many times.
