or are they? Is it all a myth, Seems Intel is doing well. A few hundred in NDG and IOTG does not constitute layoff. for a hi-tech company the size as Intel - that should be normal.

There are project managers running on the waves of a project happening in a different department and presenting work happening in that department as their own work. PM does not understand the project and can not present results to team for 4 months. Pretends to be very busy with one person skype meetings on calendar. Helps to be relative of IT director to get resources helping in the management of a PM which isn't even a project. Get a GB in India to make a Intel paid home trip to India.
i. e. - In IT. Event Management program is being done by IT Infrastructure for all IT segments. Why does a segment need a PM pretending to be involved in that project. No one even knows her in that department and everyone bypasses the PM by going directly to IT infrastructure for answers because PM doesn't know anything.
If it's gonna' happen, it's gonna happen .. nothing you can do to change the event. Take it in your stride.

"high performing teams?" Seriously? How do you claim organizations working on these projects are high performing when they haven't earned a dime for Intel. People at Intel need to learn that the entire organization succeeds together or fails together. No more politics of trying to show one team is better than another if the whole org gets cut when the project doesn't turn a profit.
Not if, simpler when as the previous poster has noted, you got a plan as the ACTs will be big!
There will be layoffs once operating margins drop well below investor expectations.
Right now, Intel is investing for the future in the desperate hope that their bets will pay off.
Once Altera and Mobileeye and the other questionable 'investments' start to show negative returns - then you'll see the SHTF. These BK debacles have been well documented here.
Intel has also de-funded their cash cow x86 business and allowed AMD to get back in the game. This will somewhat accelerate the timeline, depending on AMD execution.
The will take a year or two to play out. That gives you slackers some time to plan your escape.

Yeah, its normal and completely acceptable for large companies to throw away high performing teams and move jobs to India

It's not normal if you are one of the impacted. There are probably some excellent engineers who got cut, all because they were in the wrong org at the wrong time.
