Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Question is when, not if there will be more layoffs

I can't predict when the next layoff will be, but as an engineer do some common sense analysis.

Billions spent on new intiaves with years before real revenue or any profits. Crazy high capital expenditures for 10 and 7nm and both programs late and if 10 is any indication big cost issues.

Larger core x86 business is flat at best and management has failed to find a real credible strategy leveraging any Intel strength for growth for the future.

Look around at the design houses or the semiconductor houses and you see strength and focus from well managed and executing companies. Intel competitors these days aren't weak and poorly funded and managed like the AMD of old, nor is there a monopoly printing money faster and faster like two decades ago.

At Intel you see dissarray and diluted and half executed programs. We gave up on tablets, mobile, security and much more, and we will also most certainly not have stomach and fold up on the other billion dollar. Look to the stupidity of ACT as the first of the many silly things and most certainly more ACTs are coming as Intel has no choice given its situation and need to pacify the stockholders.

The date maybe July and maybe not, but the good old days are gown and more layoffs ACTs are certain. So the question are you ready as it isn't a matter of if, but only when

Excellent analysis by @O1Dde9P-dwa, a must read.

My prediction is slow pruning thru end of the year, then 10nm ramp next year will require some serious amputation ACT

Haha. Does not even matter when layoffs occur. You can see mostly useless employees constantly looking over their shoulders and trying to make themselves visibly valuable when they are not. They are like scared little mice, understanding they carry no value at Intel, and are good at only playing the game of survival.

The only thing of value at Intel is the server and x86 business.

TSMC scale and flexibility is actually a better manufacturing option for Intel product groups with their rich st of IP and multiple tailored offerings for different segments.

Intel will be the stronger to dump TMG. The fact TMG couldn't survive but a few years outside of mother Intel is enough evidence of how limited silicon manufacturing is compared to the competitors.

Next year or future. For this year, there won't be any layoffs !

TSMC and Samsung offerings are far better at leading node and these days older nodes are more than good enough for so many things that Intel with only leading node isn't very viable, agile manufacture. TMG is but a boat anchor at the moment

OP - excellent analysis. Intel's technology process node advantage will soon become indiscernible from anyone else. The executive tiers will deploy their golden parachutes and on the way out chop up the company's assets to keep the Goldman Sachs folks on the gravy train.
