Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

TRUE profile of INTEL FLM

As an Intel manager, I am always happy when somebody on my team resigns, regardless of how valuable they have been. Nobody should be above the team. I am then able to give this person S4/S5 without any debates. This really helped me avoid these forced distributions.

Leaving after focal is not a guarantee that your manager won't attempt to shaft you. I was in TMG and went to I....after focal. A few weeks later I received an email from HR stating that my focal was changed retroactively to BE. Fortunately, I kept notes of all of our conversations (completely unqualified FLM) and I was able to turn the focal around by escalating up.

Intel pays sh--. I left last year and my salary went up 60%. More of you include stock incentives.

Nobody in their right mind goes back to Intel.

Sadly, Intel does pay pretty well if you include bonuses (grades 8+). So, that is one reason I want to go back.

Once you leave Intel, you want to go back ??? Not my experience.

It matters if you left on what you thought were good terms and wanted to come back a few years later to Intel into a different group. BAM, new manager pulls up your focals and your job offer is rescinded!

Does it really matter? Seriously?

Which is why you leave right after you get your Focal results and not before.

OP message is true. After a good employee voluntarily resigns, many Intel managers are still required to complete this person's Focals. Since this person will never know what is written, managers can lie and write very negative reviews and nobody will contest it.

Not true, I had stellar people leave my team. If they stayed they would have been O/1 maybe even promo'd. Discussion quickly turned to make sure I have hem S/3 or worse from my boss. Protect the limited money for the loyal.

Some people don't appreciate or can't understand sarcasm

I think that person was being sarcastic, though. Even if he/she wasn't, that person doesn't represent all managers at Intel.
